Saint John Board of Trade to host Mark J. Carney, Governor of the Bank of Canada

The Saint John Board of Trade will be hosting Mark Carney, Governor of the Bank of Canada in his first address in New Brunswick on Tuesday, September 20 at noon. This event will be held at the Saint John Trade & Convention Centre and is expected to sell out.

“We are really excited to have the Governor speak to our members and our region about the economic outlook” stated Imelda Gilman, Saint John Board of Trade President. “With the current state of unrest in the global economy, we are really interested to hear what Mr. Carney has to say and particularly how it relates to Canada, the Atlantic region and New Brunswick.”

Mr. Carney assumed the role of Governor of the Bank of Canada on February 1, 2008 for a seven year term. Mr. Carney received a bachelor's degree in economics from Harvard University in 1988. He received a master's degree in economics in 1993, and a doctorate in economics in 1995, both from Oxford University.
